Turn on Require approval to join in Privacy & Visibility. Guests then tap Send Request instead of buying. You'll see each request under View more > Users > Request. Tap Accept and they get an email with a Buy ticket button.
Step by step
- Edit your event, open Privacy & Visibility and turn on Require approval to join. Tap Update event.
- On your event page, guests see "This event is private, please send a request" and tap Send Request.

- They get an email saying the host will review their request.

- In your dashboard, go to Events, tap the event, tap View more, open Users, then Request. Each request shows as Pending.

- Tap Accept, or the bin icon to reject. Accepted requests change to Approved.

- The guest gets an email saying they've been accepted, with a Buy ticket button.

What the guest sees
Instead of Buy tickets, a private event shows a request button. After sending, it changes to Request sent until you decide.
Accepting doesn't sell the ticket
Approval lets the guest buy. They still need to complete checkout, and your capacity still applies.
FAQs
A request isn't showing up.
Needs checking before publishing: in the recording the Request tab first showed 0 requests. Try refreshing the page.
For editors: grey [Screenshot] and [GIF] notes show where each image goes. Files are on Joe's Desktop in Clyx help centre (working files) > Help centre media. Delete each note once its image is in, then delete this box and tick Published.
